We have made it to Week Four of my new work recaps, sharing painted stones completed during the previous week. These are just pictures of the stones just painted in "raw" format, before they get their protective finish coat.
I'm using the Danish numbering system for weeks that I grew up with, which means weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday. As much as anything, the purpose of these posts is to create a "catalog" of sorts.
It was actually quite a good week, creatively speaking. Mostly, my focus was on heart stones ahead of Valentine's Day... not terribly interesting, but definitely something I need to have in the shop, and soon!
AS26-015:
A smaller stone, mostly made as an experiment to test some new blue pigment. This one will end up in the $20 basket.
AS26-016:
A smaller heart stone, painted on a vaguely heart shaped rock. It looks a bit pale, but the background will turn almost pure black once it gets a finish coat.
AS26-017:
A Crown Chakra stone for meditation. Not suremely happy with this one; colors seem a little washed out. Using that new blue, again... we'll see how it turns out!
AS26-018:
Probably the most "successful" of the heart stones I painted this past week. It was a very smooth stone, and it took the painted design really well.
AS26-019:
Another small heart stone; this one seemed a bit "rough" but I decided to paint it, anyway. I get so many requests for "heart shaped" stones I can hardly afford to pass any up... even if on the dge of usable quality.
AS26-020:
The painted design felt OK, but the stone doesn't sit that well on a flat surface.
AS26-021:
My first serious "large scale" stone of 2026, and it turned out quite well, using the "warm" color set I prefer to put on the pale sandy colored stones.
This one will be quite impressive, once it gets its clear finish coat, and likely will end up retailing for about $100.00.
Here's a little more of a side angle:
And shown with a dime for a sense of scale:
AS26-022:
Another smallish heart stone. This one also had a rather "pitty" surface, but the end result was pretty decent.
It was a pretty good week, although I'll be glad when I am done with trying to play "catch up" with the heart stones. They feel so prosaic... but they are also really popular.
Thank You!
