Hello.
Thank you to @macchiata @jamerussell for guiding me at me tentative start, this is new and a bit daunting but here thanks and here goes.
Okay, me, which is not easy as I am an introvert so not big on talking about myself or know how to via social media. However, I am all about my art and think its time to get the work out there - many people think its good and deserves a bigger readership - and life is too short not to share the creations I believe in.
Firstly, I am a dad of two boys - a 10 and 7 year old. My eldest is Autistic and has epilepsy and that makes life a bit more challenging! Both boys are amazing and I do love being a dad. I'm also married to a wonderful woman and mum of the boys.
Throw in two dogs for good measure - a moody Boston, Ziggy and queen on the house Mabel - a lovely Frenchton.
All of this takes place in England, a rural setting overshadowed by a castle so it has a timeless fairy tale quality to it. Well thats how I see it.
Seven years ago I was unwell, let's call it a breakdown. Three years of being ill and then it came to me to write a book. The story burst into my head like a firework and wouldn’t leave me alone until I started to write it; never written a book before. As I started to write I entered recovery. Fast forward four years and I’m healthy with a book, second one on its way and poems being written and performed. My authentic self which is the artist is alive. I understand that my true self and perhaps I always knew (I did) is a creative soul that needs to make art in order to be healthy otherwise I become sick.
I balance fatherhood, a day job, dogs, life in general with creating art and sometimes life is more demanding so the art slows down but each day I think about it and try and write a tiny bit here and there.
Why I am here?
I want to share my work. Grow my audience and readers. I believe my book, Acuity, which I will share a chapter in a post soon but can also be seen on substack for free - dropping weekly chapters, is an important story of the age. I feel compelled to tell this story as it chose me.
My poetry also needs to find its audience. Recently the response has been amazing from my you tube channel of the recording of me performing them. This was a big step for me. Its a exposing thing to put yourself in person out there reading the words that came to you. Life is too short for me to hide and deny who I am. I have taken the long way round and denied, doubted and not believed in who I am and my work for too long. It make me sick and I’m lucky to be here.
So let me connect with you. Share my work and if you like it please help me share it so it flows to the vast corners of the internet into the souls of the people and does what it needs to do.
I’m not super tech savvy but will post up my work and links to channels like substack and you tube for you to see and share the work.
